Justin Walter Milhouse is a Detroit born photographer, videographer and creative director with an eye and energy for meaningfully capturing life and culture locally and globally.  Heavily influenced by the artistic expressions and exposure of his grandfather, Donald L. Robinson, Milhouse began exploring his own creative voice more deeply in 2009 while a business student at Alabama A&M University.  It was then that he launched his Fresh Cool Dope brand as a platform for showcasing his expanding portfolio of photo and video creations.

Since then, Milhouse’s graphic lens has landed him in a myriad of venues across the globe including Morocco, Bali, Cuba, Spain, South Africa and Vietnam, along with many locations throughout the United States.  Those travels serve as a catalyst for Milhouse’s more inspired appreciation of the juxtaposition between geography, community and culture.

Milhouse was selected as one of the inaugural fellows for the “Facing Change: Documenting Detroit” photojournalism project in 2016.  He was also selected to participate in the “Detroit Inspires” partnership between the Detroit Pistons and Canon USA which highlighted Detroit through photography and videography.  Additionally, Milhouse is honored that one of his photography pieces was featured in the local segment of “The New Black Vanguard: Photography Between Art and Fashion" when it was exhibited at the Detroit Institute of Arts which subsequently acquired the piece as part of its permanent collection.  He enjoys sharing with students his artistic journey; promoting creative expression as a viable professional option and as a grounded backdrop for personal wellbeing.

Milhouse continues to amass an impressively diverse portfolio which includes collaborations with the Skillman Foundation; Adidas; Martell; National Geographic; Gucci; ESPN, professional athletes, musicians and actors; and many more. His work has been featured in several publications such as Hour Magazine, Chevy Roads, The Detroit Free Press and The New York Times.  Additionally, Milhouse’s artistry in the advertisement industry has been displayed on public billboards.

Milhouse’s approach to his craft is intentional yet fluid.  It is art.  It is passion.
